I plan to keep this vehicle and as always do your homework. I had a large list of services because I just bought a used Diesel 4x4 with 30K miles and was petrified to see what he was going to pull up on his tablet. In the fine print exhaust manifold issues are not covered. Ram 2500 L6-6.7L Turbo Diesel - Oil Change - Orange, California Chris arrived on time and was very professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. No problem I purchased the extended warranty. New 2014 Ram ProMaster models mate the proven. When the designers of the Ram ProMaster models noted the acclaimed figures the Pentastar V6 delivered for towing and hauling, it was a natural match. The lack of "hard" use caused an exhaust manifold carbon build up / clog. Ram pickups broke all-new ground last year when the Brand incorporated the efficiency and capability of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 powerplant. Fuel filters have to be changed every 6K miles (there are 2), about 300 bucks and a separate DEF tank has to be filled (I've read that if the DEF tank is empty the truck will only idle).

After the download was complete my truck started throwing the check engine.

Today I decided to plug the tuner in and install the download to see what it could do. The truck has a full exhaust system on it and the def system has been deleted. I've owned 1/2 ton trucks in the past and with the 4x4 the truck bed is high and at 67yo I need short step ladder to get up into the bed. Upon purchasing it the bullydog was in the truck but not plugged in. Haven't looked into aftermarket options to add additional fuel (I don't pull a trailer). It is an incredible testosterone statement and I plan to keep this truck. No previous experience with diesel engines. Space seems unlimited in back.Ĭons (not really negatives just my own negligence to learn and be informed about diesel engines), in 2013 the only mega cabs I could find were diesel (Cummings), 3/4 ton, 4x4. For those who prefer a gasoline engine, Ram offers the 5.7-liter Hemi backed by a new 6-speed automatic transmission.

The lineup also includes two 4×4 transfer cases (a manual unit standard on 4X4 ST and Power Wagon, an electric unit on all others) and four available axle ratios: 3.42, 3.73, 4.10 or 4.56.

The new High-Output Cummins Turbo Diesel does not require diesel exhaust fluid and, although horsepower remains unchanged, delivers up to 40 more horsepower at cruising speeds than the previous Cummins engine. About 90 percent of Ram HD buyers choose the Cummins Turbo Diesel, which is standard on the 3500, is offered with a choice of 6-speed automatic or manual transmissions and includes the segment’s only standard exhaust brake (we didn’t get to properly evaluate the braking and stability advantages of the exhaust brake, but it sounded great).
